2. Comfortable clothes
Think stretchy, breathable, and snug enough that nothing gets in the way when you bend or stretch. Leggings, bike shorts, or joggers paired with a fitted top usually work best. Avoid super baggy clothes—you’ll be so happy that your shirt isn’t sliding down your face while you’re in downward dog (we’ve been there).
3. Water bottle
Hydration is essential, especially if you’re in a heated studio AND if you’re really new to yoga; it’s a lot more taxing than it looks. Just remember to take only a few slow sips. You don’t want to feel water sloshing in your belly during all the twists.
4. Small towel
If you tend to sweat (totally normal!), bring a towel to wipe your mat or your face. It keeps things safe and slip-free.

Okay, not a physical item, but probably the most important thing to bring. Your first class might feel a little awkward, but you’re not alone; EVERYONE’S felt awkward during their first class, worrying that they’re not fit and flexible enough or that they don’t look like your typical yoga princess. Don’t worry about being perfect. Focus on learning the basics, moving at your own pace, and enjoying the process.
