With all the yoga and Pilates studios in Quezon City nowadays, we can’t blame you if you’re a little confused as to which one you should be going to. You might even be thinking about dropping in on each one within your area just to see which ones have the most convenient schedules and best atmosphere, pace, and teaching style for you. But you don’t need to expend any extra effort or shell out any more money than you have to on walk-in classes. Here’s a very quick guide that should be able to help you narrow down your choices and decide.
Choose a convenient location. Quezon City is HUGE, so you really need to know which studios are in your neck of the woods. You want a home studio that’s easily accessible whether from your house or from work. Because we live in Metro Manila, we never really know when traffic gets super bad; sometimes, traffic volume gets extremely heavy even in the middle of the day, which is why it’s always safest to assume that traffic will ALWAYS be bad. And that’s why you want a studio that’s within easy reach; you don’t want to be worrying about not making it to class on time because you’re still stuck in your car or Grab. Check out our directory to find the studio that’s closest to you; the entries are also organized by district, so you know where to start right away.
If you drive, find out the parking situation. If you find a studio that’s within walking distance from work or your place, or if you take public transportation, you’re lucky to not have to worry about parking; we love that for you. If you drive, you’re going to want to go with a studio that’s in a building with plenty of parking options. It’s frustrating to get dressed and ready for a tough, sweaty class and then have to turn back because you can’t find a spot to park. That’s why you might want to find a studio located in a mall, where you have a much better chance of finding parking, or a studio that offers valet parking or has arrangements with nearby buildings or parking areas; just ask the front desk for information. You’re more likely to stick to your yoga and/or Pilates routine if it’s easy for you to attend class.
Check out the rates and packages. Studios more or less have the same rates these days. What you should see if they offer any trial packages just so you can ease into the community and figure out if a studio is indeed the perfect fit. You wouldn’t want to instantly fork over money for entire packages when you’re not quite sure yet if the studio offers the pace, atmosphere, and facilities that match your needs.
Get a feel for the vibe of the place. While it’s important for you to focus only on yourself and your progress, it’s understandable if you can’t help noticing the vibe of the community in the studio. You want a studio that’s supportive and welcoming, and that’s something you can figure out after a few sessions.
Observe the instructors. What are their teaching styles? What kind of mood do they set in every class? What do they specialize in? Again, this is something you can figure out after taking a few classes, because you want to see which instructor teaches in a style that best suits you. You should make a list of your own goals so you can easily pinpoint which instructor can best help you reach them.
Accessible, supportive of your practice—so many things go into the perfect yoga and/or Pilates for you. You might check out a handful of studios before you ultimately make a decision, but the one that is most likely to win is the one that lets you engage in your practice consistently and makes you feel fantastic and encouraged after every class.
